Why is Youth Engagement important?

When young people are given the opportunity to pursue an interest or learn a new skill, they are also afforded the chance to develop confidence in their own capabilities.

Competency builds confidence, which, in turn, offers a sense of control. When youth realize they have the ability to influence the world around them, rather than simply be influenced themselves, their perspective changes.

If youth understand the impact of their actions, their deliberate actions, then they are more likely to pursue activities that enrich their communities in addition to themselves.

The Youth Engagement Project offers youth a way to connect with their interests, learn about what makes them unique, and how they might best assist in making their community better.
